Americans at high risk of Covid despite declining cases

The US is hitting major vaccination milestones, but health experts have said that those who are not vaccinated should not rely on protection from those who are vaccinated. This is because their risk of infection hasn’t gone down despite declining in Covid cases.

The risk for unvaccinated people is in fact, about the same as it was in the January surge as told by Dr. Wen while referring to an analysis from the Washington Post. Almost half of the adult population in the is now completely vaccinated, according to the data published on Tuesday by the US Centre of Disease Control and Prevention.

“Thanks to vaccines, tens of millions of Americans are able to get back to something closer to normal visiting friends and family,” said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, CDC Director. She told this at the White House coronavirus briefing done on Tuesday.

She further added that if you are not vaccinated, health care experts are wanting you to encourage yourself to take this holiday weekend and get yourself and your family the gift of protection by getting vaccinated. US is on a good downward path, but it is not quite out of the great trouble yet. US has been fighting this deadly virus with extreme dedication. Unvaccinated people are advised to put on their masks, maintain social distancing and practice all the necessary precautions.

Meanwhile, states are finding new ways to persuade and encourage the citizens to get vaccinated. Many new schemes have been introduced and free services are also being provided to the public.
