Facebook Adds New Features to Messenger and Instagram

Facebook is introducing several new features to its suite of messaging apps. One of the New Features is the addition of inbox seen states within Instagram. Simply by looking at your inbox, users can know if the person you recently messaged has seen your Direct message making it easier to find out if your friend or online crush is ghosting you.

Another inbox feature is coming to Messenger. Facebook is adding a swipe to archive gesture to make hiding old chats easier. At the same time, the company has made it less unmanageable to revisit those same conversations. There’s no need to search for them anymore. Instead, users can find them through a menu item you can access by tapping on your profile photo.

Instagram users on iOS can reply to photos and videos with their images and clips. When we say reply in this context when users pull a specific message to the right to tell your friend whether they are responding to that specific part of the conversation. Facebook is also jumping in on the push-to-talk feature wave with a twist. Users will only have to tap once to record a voice note, allowing them to keep their hands free. It’s also rolling out swipe-to-archive on mobile, allowing you to dismiss unwanted messages with a flick of your wrist.

Messenger has added a few New Features this week, including new Star Wars and Selena: The Series chat themes, stickers that celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and read receipts to messages in the inbox view, so you can see at a glance that your message was received.
