The People’s Place has increased the number of times each month that people can collect free food from its pantry.

“The rise in a number of allowable food from pantry visits increases from once to twice per month was driven by requirement”, Executive Director Christine Hein reported.

“We have updated our free food policy to well meet the requirements of some of our neighbors throughout our public,” She stated in an email.

“It is also our comprehension that a number of people don’t know that we ask for no economic information and they do not require to have a profit card or receive facilities from the Department of Social Services (DSS) to use this food pantry or any other service.”

Hein also stated that, the pantry delivers fresh, frozen, boxed and canned food. The procedure that each family could get free and fresh food from the pantry once in a month had been used from the decades. The new twice-a-month policy will impact on the Personal Care.

“This policy provides individuals and families free personal-care stuff, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, and deodorant. More than 26,400 products in this category were delivered to families or individuals during 2017”, the People’s Place declares on its website.

According to the rising needs, a number of families have several people in the workforce but still cannot come across all their economical responsibilities. Our main aim to help people who need extra support during their difficult period.”

Hein reported that, the People’s Place also has “augmented the amount of food” it provides at its Bounty Table, which offers free produce, baked goods, bread, dairy products and proteins. Bounty Table stuff change everyday and are delivered on a first-come, first-served basis. In 2017, near around 75,000 pounds of food was delivered for free at the Bounty Table.

People’s Place accepts food donations from local stores and also purchases food from the Local Food Bank of New York.
